An Evil Knight is considered as one who has wilful disregard of society’s norms in ways that leads to destruction, suffering or even death! Let’s take a look at the word “Evil”, the term is used to describe any violation of religious or social norms, an evil knight is perceived by most as an outsider, looking out for his own interest alone. Evil knights are not bound to any liege and actually scorn the act of chivalry.
The History of Medieval Good Knights
Back in the Middle Ages, barbaric interlopers and evil knights besieged Europe, the only intention that an evil knight and his forces had was to conquer all those that are in front of them and to gather up all the wealth of the more advanced worlds so as to make theirs more advanced. The Church had to come up with ways to stop these evil warriors.
The Catholic Church back in the Middle Ages was a lot wealthier than the government, and it was no secret that the local church was the prime target for any evil knight and his cohorts – the local churches were attacked for their silver and ornate gold embellishments. The Catholic Church had one source of inspiration, the type that was committed to vows of obedience, poverty and chastity and of course, well ordered – the religious orders and monastery.
The Latin word “ordo” which translates in English language “Order”, this meant a closed circle. The circle happened to be a well protected place where the members of the closed circle form a barrier from all the evil that surround it. The members pledged and are bound to obedience to a discipline that is established and they are also bound by accountability as religious orders to the church. An evil knight didn’t stand a chance against the order which only fought for the good of the society. An evil knight is often portrayed as a one who does not see anything wrong in making other people’s belongings his, even wealth that belongs to the church.
In Modern Age
Evil Knight is a video game that can be played online and downloaded as well. The game involves protecting villagers from villains who attack at night fall. There is even a movie about evil knights versus the good knights, where evil reigns supreme for a while and is later defeated by the good. There are lots of pictures of evil knights on the internet as well.
